Two shirts live on this page and they are the same garment with the sleeve resolved differently. The long-sleeve base layer covers the arm to the wrist and is the piece bought for early starts, for contact sports where a sleeve saves skin, and for wearing under a jersey that does not breathe. The sleeveless cut is the same body with the sleeve gone: it holds the torso, leaves the shoulder free, and does not add a layer at the armpit where a jersey already has one. Both are cut on the shoulder seam rather than on top of the shoulder, which is where a strap or a jersey seam would otherwise sit on it.

What people get wrong here is the letter. A compression shirt is sized by the chest, not by the shirt size you buy in a shop, and a chest that measures between two letters wants the larger one on a long sleeve and the smaller one on a sleeveless. The reason is the arm: on a long sleeve the fabric has to travel the full length of the arm and a size too small stops short at the wrist, while a sleeveless has nowhere to run short. Sizes go S to 3XL. The packs are where the price falls, and a three-pack of long sleeves costs about what two singles do.

Every colourway here is priced on its own; the DRSKIN kit bag keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.

Questions about DRSKIN Compression Shirts

The layer under the jersey

Do you wear a DRSKIN compression shirt under or over your kit?

Under it, every time. That is what a base layer is: the first thing on and the last thing off, sitting against the skin so the jersey over it is not the layer taking the sweat. Worn over a shirt it does nothing at all, because the compression only works where the knit is touching you.

Should you size up in a DRSKIN long-sleeve base layer?

If your chest measurement falls between two letters, yes. The sleeve is the reason: a long sleeve cut to the smaller letter runs short at the wrist as soon as you reach forward, and no amount of stretch gives it back. On the sleeveless cut the same measurement can go either way, and there the smaller letter usually holds better.

Is a DRSKIN compression shirt warm enough on its own in winter?

No, and it is not built to be. These are the summer-weight knits, the same 92 per cent polyester as the tights, and they are made to move sweat rather than to hold heat. The winter answer is on the thermal shelf, where the same cut comes with a brushed fleece inside face, and even that is a first layer rather than a coat.
