Fleece-lined means one thing here and it is worth being precise about it: the inside face of the knit is brushed so that it traps a layer of still air against the skin, while the outside face stays the same smooth polyester as the rest of the range so a trouser or a jacket slides over it instead of catching. That is the whole mechanism. It is warmer than the summer knit by the thickness of that brushed face and by nothing else, and it is still a first layer rather than an outer one.

Nothing on this page carries a temperature rating, because no single garment can carry one honestly. The federal guidance on working in the cold asks for several layers of loose clothing rather than one warm layer, and warns in the same document that clothing which restricts movement is its own hazard — which is a real consideration when the first layer is a compression cut. Read it as the layer that goes on first and let the layers over it do the rest of the work. Sizes run S to 3XL; the packs are two and three; the turtleneck is the one to read twice if you dislike a collar under a jacket.

Every colourway here is priced on its own; the DRSKIN range keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.

Questions about DRSKIN Thermal Base Layers

The brushed inside face

How cold can you wear DRSKIN thermal base layers in?

We will not put a number on it and nobody honestly can. What we can tell you is what the garment does: a brushed inside face holding still air against the skin, under whatever you put on top. The public guidance on cold work asks for several loose layers rather than one warm one, so treat this as the first of those layers and dress the rest of the way for the day you are actually going out in.

Are DRSKIN fleece-lined tights too warm for a mild day?

For most people, yes. The brushed face is there to hold heat and it does it whether or not you want it that day, so above roughly the temperature where you would want a jacket, the ordinary compression tights on the main shelf are the better pair. Plenty of people own both and swap in November.

Can you wear a DRSKIN thermal layer under normal clothes for work?

That is what the smooth outer face is for. It is cut close enough to go under a trouser without bunching at the knee, and the turtleneck top is the one people wear under a shirt. It will be warm indoors, which is worth knowing before a day that is half outside and half at a desk.
